University celebrates Queen's Birthday Honours
Congratulations to Professor Harminder Dua CBE and Professor Melanie Leng MBE for their awards in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours.
Wonder 2019
We hope you're feeling curious! Wonder 2019 takes place this weekend. This free family event features amazing experiments, interactive activities and the chance to talk to staff and students about all the exciting work that takes place at the University. You can find a list of activities on our website. We're also asking for help to promote the event through social media and digital channels — to help we've put together some key details in a toolkit.
Nottingham leads national improvements in mental health support for international students
An initiative led by the University of Nottingham to develop a sector-wide approach to supporting the mental health of international students coming to the UK to study is set to benefit from a share of £6 million in funding from the Office for Students.
University improves support for care leavers
Only 12% of care leavers under the age of 23 go to university, and those that do are almost twice as likely to drop out than their peers. The University of Nottingham is taking part in a new project to improve support for young people going into higher education.
Project Transform and Organisational Effectiveness (Student Support) Review
Campus Solutions has now been successfully launched and progress made in implementing the OESS Review recommendations. There remains much to do and the University has committed to further work to improve support for students and staff.

Spotlight on... our international campuses
  • The annual Tri Campus Games are taking place throughout this week (Monday 10 June-Sunday 16 June) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. The event is unique within higher education, taking place at a different one of our international campuses each year and involving nearly 200 student athletes from over 20 different nations. Underpinned by the ethos 'friendship through sport', the Games offer a fantastic opportunity for sporting and educational exchange in the friendly spirit of competition. Read more.
  • Several exciting new data services for staff and students have been showcased at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China's Li Dak Sum Library, during an event celebrating 15 years of research collaboration. Data analysis and visualisation technology are playing an increasingly important role in the workplace and the new services will help to ensure that our graduates are better prepared when commencing their careers. Event of the week Statistics teaching conference
Are you involved in teaching undergraduate or postgraduate statistics within any discipline? The Transform Statistics Project team invites you to attend a free one-day conference on teaching statistics to non-specialists. The conference, held on Thursday 27 June at the University of Birmingham, provides a great opportunity to discuss experiences of teaching statistics and ideas about best practice.
